During the mentioned events, it is likely that you will need simultaneous interpreters as they translate simultaneously what is being said. Also in this type, normally there is one “stronger” language, the native or active language. The interpreters translate from the passive into their active languages and all happens at the same time. This is why it has this name. The participants listen to the interpretation through a headset. The big advantage is, above all, that there is no waste of time and that only the ones that need translation, use the headset. As this is an extremely demanding form of interpreting, always two interpreters work together in a booth.
They swop every 20-25 minutes, due to the high concentration they are exposed to. There are exceptions when only one interpreter works alone, but these are limited and it applies only when the whole conference is not longer than 1 ½ hours. Or when at least the interpretation is not needed more than that.
Simultaneous interpreters work at big events and if there is no technical equipment on-site, then especial technical equipment must be organised.
If you need another interpreter, please let me know and I will be happy to help you find the most appropriate colleague.
